What is This?

45__recordHow have things changed since 25 years ago?  Recently I mulled over these ideas and thought of how much time I spend keeping up with tech toys and gizmos.

After we threw out all of our albums in 2005 because the record player no longer worked and hadn't for years, now they make gizmos to record them onto cds.  My friend at dinner this week told me I'm even dated with that idea.  Now you can take them straight to mp3.  My mother hates to think of buying a new car because they don't come with tape players anymore.  I don't think she realizes she can i-Pod her tunes and take them to the car.

Warp speed changes.  I have no idea what my children might call this gizmo or even think it was for.  Historical artifacts, dated detrius.  If you didn't know, what would you think it would be?

I don't know what it's called, but I know it goes in the center of 45rpm records. If you're dated about music technology, I must be a dinosaur - I don't even have an iPod!

We still have our albums because no one wanted them at a garage sale long ago. Maybe we'll buy one of those gizmos, but we've probably purchased most of the tunes we want on iTunes already.

It is one of those 45 record thingys so you could put it on the skinny needle!!

There's an award waiting for you at my place.

I know what it is, but if I didn't, I'd guess either some kind of rounded-off Japanese throwing star, or a contraceptive implant.

I know what it is. I still have records in the basement, though we have no turntable. I just can't bear to toss them.

My kids found records in the attic and were thoroughly intrigued. Same with the typewriter. And my 1985 Gameboy. I feel so ancient.
