Cultural statement, might it be? Or economic? This week Lucien Freud's painting of a fat woman sleeping sold at Christie's contemporary art auction for $33.6 million, making Freud the world’s most valuable living artist. Judging from the $348.2 million sale, the art market is going strong.

It's a tryptic, right. How about a huge painting of three strips of bacon side by side. That would probably sell.
