Flickr, a free photo sharing application, purchased by Yahoo! in March '05, has been a huge success. According to a USA Today article, Flickr's site went from 250,oo0 users to more than 2 million in the first year of Yahoo!'s ownership. Part of the reason for Flickr's success is the social aspect of the site allowing for sharing among friends, family and strangers.
