Hi, I love my hollyhocks, but my neighbor says I have have black rot. The leaves are turning brown and falling off. But I am still getting beautiful flowers. They grow near the alley which is a stop and pee spot for every dog around, would this make them turn brown and die.
M neighbor is going to spray them for black rot will I lose my plants and flowers.

A friend of mine from northern California gave me some hollyhock seeds last fall..I live in NY so I planted the seeds in May when I was sure there would not be another frost - we have had a horrible growing season this year but I have managed to produce about a dozen plants ,all in pots - unfortunately the plants are only about 15 in. tall. Should I put them into the ground now , what is my next step?
