Don't we always love the favorite foods our mothers cooked? Is it still true that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach? I think my husband married me because when we were dating, I copied his mother's favorite recipe and made it, doubling it to take it to his apartment full of guys hungry for home cooking!
My daughters have asked for the recipe. Maybe they want to always stir and create in the language of love, taste and comfort. The original, yellowed and splotched from years of use, is framed with a marriage milagro, lace representing hand-made work and beauty, and pearls of wisdom.
Famous Chicken Spaghetti
1 large chopped onion
3 stocks celery, chopped
6 strips bacon
2 cans mushroom soup
1 large can condensed milk (Carnation, Pet or other brand)
1 can sliced mushrooms
1 pound sharp NY cheese (sharp cheddar)
1 5 pound hen or two small ones, or large fryer
1 9 ounce package of spaghetti
Wash chicken. Put in a pot, cover with water, bring to a boil and then turn down heat and simmer for one hour. Let cool, then de-bone and de-skin chicken and shred into small pieces.
Fry bacon, drain. Saute onions and celery in bacon grease (now I use olive or canola or safflower oil) and cook over low heat until tender. Add soup, milk, stir in shredded cheese. Save some shredded cheese to put on top.
Cook spaghetti in the chicken stock. Add chicken and spaghetti to above mixture. Put into a casserole dish, sprinkle with cheese and cook at 300 - 350 for an hour.
Serve with love and happiness. Eat with gusto.
One of my daughters asked me to text this to her. She didn't want to sit with a pen and write it down. She asked me to email it to her. Here it is dear, for you and the whole wide world.
Thanks for the recipe. I love to make new dishes. I tried a new one by Kate last night you can find it on my site.

Think it was his grandmothers before his mom used it. Only for special occasions, otherwise it is addictive and not healthy. But making twice as much as you need insures availability for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the next day or so.

That sounds so good.
One christmas my mopm gave all of the grandkids a handmade cookbook with all of our families recipes. It means more to me than any fancy cookbook.

I would say that is as good of a reason to marry a woman as any other. Moms take good care of their boys, sounds like his did and you are too!
