This iconic image of Che Guevera is one of the most famous photos of our times. Alberto Korda took the photo in Cuba in 1960 and it has been called the most famous photograph in the world. Korda never received a single penny in royalties for the use of the photo. The owner released the copyright to the public domain, allowing it to be used and reused.
The Che icon has become symbolic of the culture in much the same way as Robert Indiana's LOVE sculpture and Harvey Ball's smiley face.
