A concrete ramble rather than a metaphorical ramble yesterday took me on a straight path to Rockefeller Center to see the tree. Crowds about the whole size of Paris, Texas, had converged around this urban place and in the surrounding blocks for the lighting ceremony on Wednesday night. I just thought I'd trek the glittery retail mile or so just to put myself in the holiday mood since the lighting of the tree seems to ignite the season hereabouts. I passed frenzied decorators putting up the last touches of holly and greenery and lights and tons of tourists and even more shoppers.
In Houston, it is the lighting of the tree in the Galleria area that spells the shift and that is done on Thanksgiving night, no less. White lights a glitter everywhere, there before the turkey dinner is even completely digested. Here? By December 1 it is all ready and the city is the commercial stage. Displays are over-the-top and I had more fun taking photos of it all... I only stopped to shop for one gift.
It would have been lots more fun to walk along looking with a friend but... still a little short on the friend side here...
I love my country life but a little glitz once in awhile is fun.

You're right..."We love to depletion" and I'm so glad to be in good company. Because of friends like you...I can take one. more. breath. And know I'll live, and maybe even get up and skate again.
I'm with you in spirit....Looking at all the awesome sight of New York... never been before, you know...
