Now this is one celebrity couple about whom I enjoy reading. Thanks for the up date.

Likewise joared.
Cheers

What wife number is this for Pale Male, do you know? Seems to me I read once that he's on his 3rd or 4th.

Yes, Hoss, this is not the first wife for Pale Male. I added the second like that goes into details like how many chicks from each mom, etc. Chocolate, First Love and Blue were the mates before Lola. Red-tailed hawks mate for life and First Love was an early affair, I guess. One was found dead on Madison Ave, one was found dead in front of the MET from eating a poisoned pidgeon and another was found dead on the New Jersy Turnpike. Pale Male is past the average life expectancy for red tailed hawks. (he is now 15 or so).

Nice. Reminds me of the nest that had 2 eggs which finally hatched one day. For a couple of weeks, I think, I checked on the hatchlings daily, to the apparent consternation of the mother or father. When one day I checked to find the nest empty, I felt "abandoned" and betrayed -- as if the little birds had to send me a notice that they'd be leaving, haha.

Oh, forgot to mention that the nest was among the branches in a potted plant in our garden, and that was maybe 4 or 5 yrs ago. That whole experience left a deep impression on me because it was around the time that, after a fairly long ceasfire, the Palestinians and Israelis resumed fighting again. I couldn't help but think that while people go declare war on each other, life is so serene in that little nest, and the parent birds just go about the business of raising their young.
