I've worked at print publications all my life and we've come across that problem, too, with saying 'today' or 'yesterday' or 'this week' in stories, because the stories 'live' much longer online. I may take a lesson from the NYT's decision on dealing with that.

do you think expectations shift when reading the times online? could just be me-- shorter fuse at the machine, linger more over hard copy. and there's the little stuff that gets left out.

reading western edition in portland, oregon for past two weeks was different too from the one in nyc. will try the blogs you suggested.

after 60-some years with the times, i have trouble not grousing about what it's become even though i know "the troubles." for one, they could more often publish a retirement section since so many of us are over 55.
