Although I fail to see the art in a pickled animal encased in formaldehyde, I too ,miss the purpose of some modern art. I can at least understand Picasso, Dali, even Twombly and Harring. But the urinal from the other day, it's right up there with the "Cow". By the way, your "cow" is a male, therefore a "bull".

Well, acquisitiveness extends to all things, not just money. I see a lot of people here who buy "art" because they can, not necessarily because it has merit or beauty or the essence of the particular it seeks to express. As a matter of fact, there is a committee that is actively pursuing artists to come relocate here. Interesting.

Besides, getting back to the various embalmed animals--who would want to look at such a thing, even once a year?

Somehow I just don't see the art in that. George Carlin -- bless his soul -- would have had a field day with this!

No, I don't get this, and as with the first commenter, I do like Dali and Pollack and Picasso.

As for being a fool, I seem to recall an old adage: "A fool and his money are soon parted."

Somehow paying $12 million for a dead shark seems to qualify.
