« Fear the Future, Change is Scary... | Main | I Heart My Friend...Help Me Help Her and Others... »

February 10, 2009

That's very interesting. Given where we live, our following of the trends is very far behind the times. (Big poufy 80s hair is still very much in fashion.) There are people here with money (despite what you will hear Diane Sawyer say Friday night on 20/20) and it will be interesting to see if they cut back at all. The rest of us never cut forward, so it won't be much of a shift. You can tighten the belt only so much before you stop breathing.

The manners issue is a pet peeve of mine as well. Unfortunately too many parents are lazy, too busy or tired from trying to earn money to buy things to properly teach manners, or they want to be their child's friend instead of parent. Manners don't cost anything to teach except time and CONSISTENCY. Or maybe they think the schools will do it. We seem to have left everything else up to the schools to teach(and God bless teachers) why not manners? My daughter is a kindergarten teacher and she spends as much time educating some of the parents on parenting techniques, as she does teaching the children.

I nominate you to write the "new etiquette" melding the old with the new!

I continue trying to resist the breakdown of privacy, but fear I'm losing the battle.

Am glad if the bling bling era is past ... until next time ... but sorry about the way it has come to be.

Yes, that privacy issue is big.
I couldn't get the thing on bling, but I watched a couple of women talk about how great it is to be 40.
